If you're in the market for a new SUV that covers all the modern essentials and beyond, then the new RAV4 is an excellent model to consider. The latest model year of the RAV4 gets a host of minor changes, adding in new LED headlights, some interior material tweaks, and a host of new paint options. The new RAV4 comes to drivers in six main trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and a Limited. No matter what trim level you opt for, the new RAV4 ensures modern versatility and connectivity.

Toyota RAV4 Vehicle Features

Exterior Features

Exterior changes are mostly aesthetic in nature, with many exterior changes coming to higher level trims. All new Toyota RAV4 models offer up sleek, handsome styling that stays in line with classic Toyota influence. The first trim level that gets substantial exterior changes is the XLE Premium, which adds 19-inch wheels and LED fog lights. The Adventure trim boasts fender flares and taller roof rails. The TRD Off-Road gets 18-inch all-terrain wheels and TRD badging. The Limited doesn't make any major exterior changes. The new RAV4 also comes standard with a whole suite of driver assistance features. Driver assistance features are bundled together under the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite, with features including a forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, automatic high beams, and traffic sign detector. The sole driver assistance feature that's not standard is blind spot monitor, which comes standard with the XLE trim.

Interior Features

Interior features are quite extensive, with features ranging from cloth-trimmed seats to a variety of near-luxury interior material and accent options. The LE base trim includes cloth-trimmed seats, automatic climate control, and a roomy rear cargo storage area. The XLE improves things by adding in keyless entry, a power adjustable driver's seat, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The XLE Premium lives up to its name by adding in a variety of 'premium' features. The XLE Premium gains a sunroof, a power liftgate, and simulated leather upholstery. The Adventure trim doesn't get any major interior changes, but the TRD Off-Road trim gets unique black trim elements and interior trim. The Limited trim boasts power-adjustable front seats along with heated/ventilated front seats. Individual interior features available as separate upgrades include a panoramic sunroof and a heated steering wheel.

Performance

The RAV4 makes one engine available across all six trim levels. All trim levels are powered by a 2.5-liter inline-4 powertrain that makes 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. All trim levels pair the 2.5-liter engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard while all-wheel drive is optional - some trim levels come standard with all-wheel drive (XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road). If you're after a new RAV4 trim that comes with increased performance capability, then there's the TRD Off-Road and the Adventure. The TRD Off-Road gains all-terrain tires and an off-road suspension while the Adventure trim adds hill descent control and selectable terrain drive modes.

Technology

Tech offerings vary by trim level with the base LE trim coming equipped with all the modern essentials. The LE trim includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for smartphone connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and USB ports. The XLE makes a few tweaks, adding in keyless entry and additional USB ports. Tech offerings remain the same until the Limited trim, which replaces the base infotainment display with a 9-inch version. The Limited trim also includes an 11-speaker JBL premium audio system. Tech features available as individual trims include wireless charging, a navigation system, and a digital rearview mirror.
