First announced nearly two years ago, the 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV is a joint venture between our favorite Japanese automaker and a lesser-known electric-vehicle manufacturer known as Tesla Motors. The two companies have been diligently working to ensure that the all-new RAV4 EV lives up to the hype that has been created during its development, and the final product was recently unveiled at the 26th annual Electric Vehicle Symposium.
So what's the verdict? The 2012 Toyota RAV4 EV is priced fully equipped at $49,800. It's powered by a battery pack mounted under the center of the vehicle to give it a smoother and more stable ride. We here at Koons Arlington Toyota think it will make a fine addition to the new Toyota lineup that's currently available to drivers in the greater Arlington area.
Unfortunately, however, it will be some time before the Toyota RAV4 EV is available at new Toyota dealerships across the country. For the first three years of production, Toyota plans to limit its sales to four markets within California.
Nevertheless, Toyota is confident that the RAV4 EV will attract a healthy number of buyers. "We believe that the RAV4 EV will attract sophisticated early technology adopters, much like the first-generation Prius," said Carter. "It's designed for consumers who prioritize the environment and appreciate performance. We look forward to seeing how the market responds."1
While everyone at Koons Arlington Toyota is greatly looking forward to seeing how the market responds as well, we also realize that there are drivers out there who need a reliable and efficient crossover SUV now. That said, we invite you to test drive the current 2012 Toyota RAV4 at 4045 Lee Hwy Arlington, VA 22207 today.
